How to use a MASK

ree

The flu is going around now. How are you all doing?

This year, the outbreak began earlier than usual, and classes at the school attended by a friend's child have already been closed.

I can't help but wonder, "How many times will classes be closed this year...?"

This time, as the title suggests, "MASK" I wrote about it.

When do you use it?

・At work

・The room is a little dry

・Uncomfortable feeling in the throat

・At bedtime

We use:

Always wear a mask when it is required.

Compared to the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of situations where masks are required has decreased significantly, but it still seems like more people are wearing them.

Worried about "slightly unfortunate ways to use masks"

On the other hand, I sometimes feel that the way masks are used when I see them around town is a bit wasteful.

  • Only the nose is sticking out

  • Only on the chin

  • Only take it off when speaking

When I see people using masks in this way, I sometimes think, "In that case, maybe I don't need to wear a mask..."

I think he's probably unconscious.

It's important to reconsider this during the influenza epidemic

Now that influenza is spreading, it may be a good time to revisit the basic principle of "wearing a mask correctly."

If preventive masks are not used correctly, their effectiveness will be halved.

How to wear a mask correctly

To prevent influenza and other infectious diseases, it is very important to wear a mask correctly.

Even if you wear a mask, if you wear it incorrectly, its effectiveness will be halved.

Here are some easy tips for wearing a mask correctly.

1. Check the front and back, top and bottom

First, The front and back and Top and bottom Check.

  • The pleats should face downwards

  • The one with the wire is on top

  • The front side is slightly darker or has a visible brand logo.

Doing it the other way around will result in a poor fit and more likely to create gaps.

2. First, fit it to your nose

Once you place the mask on your face, bend the wire firmly to fit the shape of your nose.

If this is loose, gaps will appear with each breath, making it easier for viruses to enter.

3. Make sure it fits snugly to your face

After putting on the ear loops, open up the entire mask,

  • nose

  • cheek

  • chin

Adjust it so that it fits tightly at these three points.

The pleated type improves the fit by spreading the pleats up and down firmly.

4. Nose or chin masks allowed

Commonly seen

  • Only the nose is sticking out

  • Shifted to the chin

  • Only take it off when speaking

Please be careful when wearing the mask in this way, as it will make the mask almost ineffective.

In particular, masks that expose the nose are significantly less effective.

Whether or not your nose is covered has a big impact on infection prevention.

5. Avoid touching the device while it is in use

If you touch your mask out of curiosity, there is a chance that the virus on your hands may be transferred to the surface of the mask. If you have to touch it, it is best to wash your hands or use alcohol-based disinfectant to be safe.

6. When removing, hold the ear elastic

When removing the mask, do not touch the surface of the mask, but only remove it by holding the ear loops.

After removing it, make it a habit to wash or disinfect your hands.

7. Replace one sheet per day

Non-woven masks are generally disposable , so replace them as soon as they get damp or dirty.

Summary

Wearing a mask correctly is an important habit to protect not only those around you but yourself as well.

Now that influenza is spreading, it's a good time to reconsider how you wear and use your mask on a daily basis.

Let's not follow the trend, but take the necessary precautions to ensure we live safe and secure days.
